Aline Weber for Vogue Japan

Ok, this is from 2011 but it’s beautiful so I thought I would post it anyway

I did the best of entertainment photos, now for the best and worst of the fashion mags from July. There are some really great, and by great I mean bad…and good, shots. Llamas and Mouse ears oh my. Which are your favs?

Brave New Look

This shoot from Vogue Australia , by Nicole Bentley , captures looks from the fall campaigns. Too many favorites. I want them all. Hello anonymous benefactor, are you listening? I need all of these…and probably a few more too.

KT Auleta for Vogue Italia May

I am enamored with this shoot, the styling, by Giulio Martinelli, is a dream. I would wear everything in this shoot. I’m not sure I love the combo with the beach setting but hey, you can’t win ‘em all. via Vogue.it

Best of the Met Gala through the years

With the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala approaching, tomorrow, it’s only appropriate to look back at some of the favorite fashions that have graced their red carpet over the years. Personally I think the Met Gala fashions can kick the Oscars fashions ass any day. So many amazing choices but I think Kate and Marc has to be my favorite, though Cate Blanchett is a close second.

Under $100

I know I just did a post recently of British Vogues picks under $100 but now US Vogue has their list as well and its only fair if I represent those as well right? Besides, you can never have enough options of reasonably priced finds. Their list includes 100 items, you’ll notice mine does not because, frankly, the editors and I just don’t always agree and I won’t post anything I won’t wear so here is my edited list.

Who doesn’t love a bargain?

There are infinite things I love about being back in NYC, but I realize after breakfast with my husband on Saturday at a local restaurant that I’m a bit of a cheap-ass. I don’t know when it happened I didn’t used to be this way but I guess the years living away from NY grounded my expectations of price. Now I’m having abit of sticker shock everytime we do anything. I felt like a little old lady ‘you want me to pay how much? For breakfast?? ’ . Needless to say, I’m a huge fan of a bargain. I found this spectacular list of bargains from Vogue UK (click on images for details):

Middle Aged

Wow. I’ve finally made it to NYC. Well more specifically I’ve made it to Brooklyn but, close enough. And while I’m still in the midst of apartment hunting mayhem it’s good to finally be out of the car. So….I found this stellar trend on Vogue Italia that I love, very The Messanger (remember that movie from a million years ago with Milla Jovavich as Joan of Arc?)

Armors, ample garments and heavy fabrics reminiscent of Gothic styles:

Diamond encrusting the Lily, and then adding neon lights

This editorial for Vogue Japan April 2012 is all about bling and excess. It sort of gives me epileptic fits to look at because there is so much going on but she fits in perfectly with her surroundings. This is an amazing caricature, and so well styled. Shot by Giampaolo Sgura

In the Dark

This editorial is from 2009, which I realize isn’t quite up to date but it is stunning and ominous which I need a little bit of with all the pastels and florals abounding. Paolo Roversi for Vogue Italia 2009
