Happy 4th!

Today is not only the birthday of the country I live in but it’s also the birthday of my husband and best friend and uncle and various assortment of random other folk I know. So happy day to them and everyone else because like all other holidays in this fair country it’s an excuse to eat drink and buy stuff for a discount. So here are the best ones for this particular holiday

1. Bloomingdale’s:
The best department store for designer picks at surprisingly affordable prices, the sales at Bloomindale’s tend to be a must-browse. Exhibit A: Through the Fourth, get 25% to 65% off everything from summer sandals to swimwear. Vacation packing list? Done.

2. Dolce Vita:
The affordable and trendy footwear and apparel line just got a whole lot more affordable with 20% markdowns sitewide, including sale. Stock up on sandals, colorful wedges, and tee-tottering platforms for under a hundo through Friday.

3. Club Monaco:
Shop an extra day online through July 5 or skip the pool and head to a store on the Fourth for an extra 30% off sale items. Wicker totes, striped maxis, and button down blouses all make the cut.

4. Eugenia Kim:
Nearly where ever you are in the US this summer, the sun’s going to follow you. Luckily, there’s no more auspicious time for headgear of the wide-brim variety. Get yours for up to 50% off from one of America’s leading milliners.

5. Gap:
It wouldn’t be a Fourth of July sale round up without a nod to Gap. Get 40% offthrough tomorrow in honor of their Red, White, and Blue sale. America.

6. Nasty Gal:
One of the biggest online retailers for super trendy wares is offering an extra 30% offsale items through tomorrow. That’s a disgustingly good sale.

7. Of a Kind:
Celebrate independence by buying gorgeous goods from independent designers. And then take 25% off all editions through Sunday. Enter JULY4THEWIN. (Props, Of a Kind.)

8. Piperlime:
There’s been much to-do about Piperlime’s 60% off Lime-Tag Sale that’s been going strong for about a month. But now, take an extra 20% off by entering SALE at checkout. So much of the covetable merch falls below $50 we can’t name it all here. You’ll have to check it out for yourself.

9. Shopbop:
Few things get us as excited as the Shopbop sale section where you can find Joie maxis,J Brand shorts, and Diane von Furstenberg frocks for up to 70% off. Everything isn’t dirt cheap, but if you’re on the hunt for surprise deals, this sale is a good start.

10. Tory Burch:
Tory Burch seems to know what American women want and, to that end, makes plenty of tunics, sleek collared button downs, and dresses with clean lines and no-fuss prints. And then the brand goes and offers a sale. It breaks down like so: Spend $250 and get 20% off, spend $500 and get 25% off, and spend $750 and get 30% off. Enter SUMMERTIME through the Fourth at 11:59pm PST and you’re good to go.

Best of Resort 2013

I’ve given snippets of some of the looks from the Resort collections but here is my full ‘Best of’ list…this may be the first time I haven’t included Marc Jacobs in the best of anything list but I just didn’t love his looks this go around. Which are ya’lls favorites? Full runway details here

Erdem 2013

Oh Erdem, how I love thee…let me count the ways….well there are too many looks to count here but I sure do like em. To be fair, this isn’t the entire collection but it’s close. I left out a few pieces I didn’t feel quite as strongly about but you can see them at Fashionologie

Best Bags and Shoes from Fashion Week?

These are some of my favorite accessories from the now over NY Fashion week. Of these I think J.Crew really surprised me, the Karen Walker booties are phenomenal, and I must own the Alexander Wang Dr. Bag.  Did I miss anything?

Pleats and thank you

Well it’s that time of the year again, my birthday is rapidly approaching (Feb. 22nd…I’m a Pisces for those of you who might be wondering ;) ) and that means I’m going to stay the same age and get presents. Not so bad. I’m the worst person in the world to buy birthday, or any, presents for because when asked I always say ‘I don’t know what I want, you don’t have to get me anything’. Luckily my family and husband know that’s not really what I mean. I truly am a fan of home-made gifts and ‘the thought is what counts’ but hey I’m not afraid of being mildly materialistic either (if you have read any of my posts you would agree). So I’ve compiled some things that are on my B-day wishlist in case my husband needs ideas just for fun. Given that spring is around the corner most of them are things to wear in the sunny hot months to come. After compiling this list I realized that there are a disproportionate number of pleated skirts, hence the title (other than just being pun-ny).

Atelier Versace Couture

In their first couture collection since 2004, Versace got couture week started on the right foot. It was a ‘star studded’ event apparently, I would have no idea since I wasn’t there, but I can say these are amazing looks. I’m not a huge Versace follower but these are 80′s-futuristic-meets-classic-glamour-with-a-side-of-amazing-detailing. Shoes are pretty killer too.

Out with the Old….

In with the new. It’s a new year, and my husband and I have decided to move back to NY (yay!). That means lots of purging and tossing of old things, but it also means new things to replace it all once we’re there! And what better place to freshen up my look than the good ol’ NYC. Here are some amazing looks and trends I compiled that make tossing the old stuff really easy. Good bye and good riddance to the old!

8 coats to keep you warm this fall

I have a terrible affliction, I’m always cold. Even in summer. And now that it’s getting even colder outside I’m bound to become a personsicle unless I wear a toasty coat all the time. Inside, outside, everywhere. I must be wrapped up and covered at all times. Sounds very sexy doesn’t it? At least there are coats out there that can save me from looking homeless in my efforts for warmth, and save my husband from the wrath of my frozen self seeking warmth on his inevitably warmer man parts (ew, that didn’t sound right, I meant it in a family friendly way…like an arm or back or something PG rated). So check out the goods yo:

this one is from Topshop, adore the toggles and the color:

Zara Ottoman Puffer Jacket, available at Zara

the collar on this is fantastic, from Guess at Nordstrom:

this looks super warm and super fun color:

this next one is great, with the touches of plaid from Asos.com

the next one is a little more casual with a cool faux-fur (the only way to do fur is faux) hood:

next up one from Modcloth, very chic black and white:

And last is a great cream one that I could never wear because I’d spill something on it, but nonetheless fashionable:

If you don’t love these there are some more great coat guides at Refinery29.com, Fabsugar, and Shopstyle.com

Perfect affordable fall dresses

After lusting over so many things during fashion week (which was really multiple weeks in multiple locations) I need to come back to reality…where I really can’t afford most of those things. But I’ve put together a bunch of perfect dresses to add to your wardrobe for fall that won’t take all the money out of your wallet. Add a pair of boots (or booties) and a sweater and you’re good to go for the colder weather ahead.

Here are a few from Asos.com
