The Thin Line

Howdy everyone, I’ve been a big fat non blogger the last few days but you can’t blame me it’s been sunny outside. And after those traumatizing few years in SF, in the fog, I feeled compelled to absorb every last drop of sunshine. I also felt compelled to post this because I normally don’t like accessories shoots so when I see one this dramatic and striking I must share. Plus the bags are awesome. For Numero China May:

And I want to throw this in here because it’s pretty darn rad. I feel like it appeals to the kid in all of us, and we can relate on so many levels from Design Boom

Seeking Asylum with LOVE

LOVE magazine gets a little crazy with this editorial, which definitely is competing with the crutches editorial for the winner of the ‘Fashion takes itself to seriously’ award. I love it in all it’s irony.

The Perfect LBS

That’s Little Black Shoes of course.  I’ve realized recently that I have a variety of shoes, none of which are a pair of classic black shoes. Given that I’ll probably be entering the ‘interview for jobs’ circuit soon I could probably use a trusty pair of black steeds. And the bonus about the perfect pair of LBS is that you can wear them for just about anything. Here are some of the ones I’m considering:

Giuseppe Zanotti $424 at FarFetch

Steve Madden $69.95 at Zappos

Marc by Marc Jacobs $199.95 at DSW

Prada $650 at Nordstrom

Aldo $21.99 at 6pm

Nine West $76.99 at 6pm

Prada Platform in Patent $576 at Bluefly

Steve Madden $89.95 at Steve Madden

Christian Loubotin $896 at BlueFly

Nine West $89 at Zappos

Mui Mui $645 at Saks

Aldo $41.99 at 6pm

LA Story and Flowers in Winter

Here are two editorials from February mags that I quite enjoy. I’ve never been to L.A. despite living only 5 hours from there but c’est la vie, I think part of the reason I love the editorial is because of the stunning location more than the styling or anything else. I want that house. And the second story, Flowers in Winter is apropos to the other post I just did so I had to toss it in here, I really love some of the clothing styling but the accessories styling is reminiscent of playing dress up where you just put it all on at one time….

Oscar Dress Predictions and Harper’s Bazaar Editorial

Happy Sunday everyone! Of course the Oscars are approaching, and Sundance is over which I think has much better films than the Oscars but any way…the interwebs are a flurry with ‘who’s going to wear whom’ to the Oscars and making guesses and predictions. I thought these were interesting (after I Google searched some of them to figure out who they are); some of them I totally agree with and then some left me scratching my head. Which do you all like?

Rooney Mara and Jean Paul Gaultier

Berenice Bejo and Givenchy

Frumpy McFrumpersons

Glenn Close and Armani

Janet Mcteer and Valentino

Jessica Chastain and Armani

They want her to wear AstroTurf?

Melissa McCarthy and Dior

Meryl Streep and Giambattista Valli

Michelle Williams and Chanel

Octavia Spencer and Elie Saab

Viola Davis and Alexis Mabille

Why would they want Viola Davis, who is lovely, in this monstrasity? All wrong.

And there are these images which feel so quintessentially Californian, is by Lachlan Bailey. It seems to be a mish mash of 40′s 50′s and 60′s influence thats’ really well put together. Lovin’ the style, hating the price tag…think this shoot might be worthy of a ‘Steal’ version…stay tuned.

Going on the Cheap

Well I realized after my post yesterday that if I actually bought all those things I’d be a very poor, albeit well-dressed, homeless person. So I decided to do a collection of fun spring looks for under $100.  Found most on LuckyMag.com

Colorful addition to accessorize any outfit.

Out with the Old….

In with the new. It’s a new year, and my husband and I have decided to move back to NY (yay!). That means lots of purging and tossing of old things, but it also means new things to replace it all once we’re there! And what better place to freshen up my look than the good ol’ NYC. Here are some amazing looks and trends I compiled that make tossing the old stuff really easy. Good bye and good riddance to the old!

Jason Wu, I like you…for Target.

Well really I like Jason Wu’s designs anywhere, but the Target collection is as good as it gets for a Target collection. The outfits are playful and girly, summed up perfectly by Wu himself, in a Tmagazine article, as ‘gamine chic’. In the same article he also said, “My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection.” “Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own.” While I may have to call bluff on that, considering some of the looks are suspiciously similar to some of his other collections…I may also have to say…who cares? They are all adorable, especially the look with the black and white dress and blue cardigan. I’m wearing that right now in my mind. February 5th they hit stores.
